Coach Joe

The Maryland Belles’ culture pioneer

“Be first” he always said

A rule that always seemed to get stuck in my head

Why was this culture so important

I always felt so burdened

Until I realized

We can effect everyone’s lives

With such a simple high five

He changed the way I see the game

Instead of people chanting my name

I want the Maryland Belles organization to rise to fame

Coach Joe changed my life for the better

Making me want to set an example for the next female generation

Because one day we will rule the nation

No more being second, were through with all the agitation

Soon the women will be equal to all of the men’s organizations

Sometimes I think about if I had never met him

Would I even be the same person I am today?

The chances would be slim

It’s unfortunate  that I can’t see him as much as I used to

The time we spent together flew

But now it’s on me

To continue that Maryland Belles legacy
