cobblestones

value me warmly,

in the fire of your city.

abandoned and lonely--

i’m done with all my pity.

caress me softly,

oh cobblestones of history.

my story is nothing

like the memories of past saints.

i used to believe that all things were easy,

that i was the queen and that all things

would come to me.

but once my stain glass windows shattered and broke,

i jumped off my throne to build up my city.
