COFFEE

COFFEE
By: T.Marie Brown...

Oh What is it? Is my COCO just too sweet? Is my Coffee just too Strong? Is my man just to brawn…Is his walk to confident… because his stride say's no less than royalty. My head held high voice carrying the echoes of my unheard, but not silent ancestors…bellowing the tune of brazen courage every time I speak…my plush lips or exploited physique…
Everything strong, made weak by our society…
I mean, the society ….in which my person resides.
Does the magnification of the presence felt, when entering and leaving the room, justify the means to discontinue a life like a market item?

You’d prefer I subject to anecdotal tendencies of the past….No, it’s not gone…BUT IT DOES NOT LAST…on my mind as fixation; no hope for monetary reparation …so I’ll just take debts owed in full by payment method of education, graduation, representation and escalation to the top of society…

Yes I’m Black, Black as tar…Bronze as rust…light as white…you may be right

But you still have no deal…..

You can keep the degradation and the validation; of a civilization, that says that it was only one moment in time.

Yet there are new quotes for get your black butt to the back of the line….No more sit-ins, HANDS UP DONT SHOOT, we are cut down in our prime.

It’s easier to pretend that it’s non-existent
Or just make certain a whole race is represented, by ideation of idiocrasy.

I won’t be Berated…due to the complexity of the systematic lethargy…

Ill travel the road paved for me…by a legacy of STRONG, CONFIDENT, PASSIONATE…Visionaries who hoped even when they could not read, fought even when they couldn’t speak and dreamed with no light in sight!....

Yes I’ll be alright, and fight this fight of life, with my buttery pecan praline skin and win…

Simply because I knew, I could! Now how would you like your COFFEE?
