Coffee Boy

You make me want to like coffee

I hate the taste but I like the way you make it sound

Three sips in and your breath smells awful

But it makes me want to kiss you more

You make me a hot cup on late nights

I take it so I can talk to you a little more

My hands are jittery and it`s bitter

But your smile is so soft I drink it all

You bring me a cup when my mother`s in the hospital

One for me and one for my sister, scalding hot

I`m so nervous I can`t taste it

But you held my hand and that was warmer

You tell me you love coffee but you love me more

As I lay in your bed looking at a bottle of prescription pills

The doctor had given me them that morning

I`m terrified but I want to get better

Because I love you
