Coffee Stains

The house and everything in it has his bittersweet cologne The coffee drips that dot the carpet lead to his lazy boy throne. The spots and splotches around the home all have a special place Though cleaner might remove them, each one has earned its rightful space. Splish splash, the coffee once abandoned his warm brown mug Each droplet found a new home on the walls, the table, and the rug. Walking down the halls, I can see his commonly used paths The carpet holds no secrets; one doesn’t need to do the math. His drippy cup and unsteady hand created artwork unseen to most Looking at these coffee stains makes me picture his smile, and his toast.
