Coffee Stains.
My love for you,
Like coffee stains.
A reminder of the bittersweet pain I've enjoyed, the heat I could never wish
away.
They rest on my shirt,
Like thoughts of you inhabit my mind.
As much I want them gone,
As much as I hope they'd die.
They prevail.
My prayers for you,
Like cigarettes,
Taking the pain away then collapsing to ash.
You were broken, I was nothing.
You were golden, I was trash
And you made damn sure I was aware of that. And yet you are still my weapon of choice, my favorite contrivance to use.
My favorite drug and my favorite abuse.
There is comfort in your blind hatred.
There is misery in your kindness.
My love is forsaken,
And you remain righteous.
