Cognitive Fatigue

Cognitive fatigue,

from illness,

and medication side effects,

Enveloping my brain in cobwebs.

Inability to process chapters of books

Overwhelming fatigue

As if liquid concrete flows

Through my brain's sulcus

And hardens to form a wall

Between neuron galaxies.

But poetry is digestible,

Accessible,

A portal to express the thoughts buried in the concrete,

A liberating force.

Volumes of books condensed into stanzas,

Each word a droplet in an ocean of passion.

Poetry,

a comb that peels away the cobwebs in my brain.
