The Cold
Do you ever just sit there in the cold. After doing something, anything and life just seems to drag on with no end. I think there is a reason we stand in the cold. To sit there and let your body try to clench as hard as it can to maintain warmth for all that you are worth. It shivers and shakes yet your mind won’t let it move to somewhere warm, keeping you in a perpetual state of grid lock. And we stand there till your body almost goes numb. The pain is subsided. All that remains is the dull thought and feeling that you simply exist. And your mind will keep you in the cold, not moving. It can be so long hours roll by. And finally before you collapse the mind finally releases its grip. As if it were saying “you have suffered enough”. I wonder why we do that. Make ourselves suffer. Maybe it’s just to gratify some things in our life. Maybe it’s because inside all we really are is a trapped soul banging and beating our cage of a body to be free. Each time we stand in the cold for so long that it hurts to breathe maybe we feel closer to being free from our mortal ties.
