Cold

Cold is what I feel on days

I think about our past

‘cause cold is what you were to me

When our love couldn’t last

The thought of you and we and us

Is glacier, snow, and frost

An avalanche of detriment

Completes what love we lost

A chill is with me evermore

Burned, scraped into my heart

As if a flame of warmth within

Would tear us more apart

And yet somehow through everything

I’ve known this to be true

That plunging into frozen seas

Would bring me back to you
