Collective Good

I write for the collective good. I write to share. I write to teach. I write to make these anonymous lives – on the internet and in real life – a little more known. A little more intimate. Intimacy That’s what it’s about. To hear each other’s stories; to learn. To reach out! There was a decade in my life when I prayed to die So much so that I had to leave school itself to lay in bed. If only I knew! There were others like me. I’m on the other side of poor mental health. I made it to, perhaps not happiness, but wholeness. And now that I’m here, looking back, it’s my duty to say It’s a long and winding road. It’s an uphill climb every day. But you will make it to the top of the mountain if you keep stepping one foot in front of the other. I am proof that miracles exist – just look at these scarred wrists juxtaposed with this cheeky smile. Just feel life – all of it. It will be okay. You are okay. We love you and you belong here. That’s what it’s about. There are seven billion of us here. On Earth. And, I’m a little dramatic, I’ll admit. But, I think, it’s mighty impossible if we can’t open our mouths and our hearts and our notebooks and computers to share Our stories. Our failures. Our triumphs. There’s a reason for history class. And there’s a reason for honest writing. The forward movement. The progress. The tears and smiles. The collective good. And that is why I write.
