Dear Loneliness,

In sight of losing my family and friends from years past

I am frightened.

They say it will be okay, but I don't believe lies.

I go to the Lord;

praying for assurance, that it will be a good change.

They tell me this feeling will pass;

however I gain more of them each day: anxiousness, worry, regret.

Then an excitement builds;

I run to the mail with hope I have received the acceptance of my dreams.

I know nothing good comes from this.

I gain the realization I will stumble further and alone.

I think of dorm life-

worrying I won’t create a new friendship.

Time-

it builds unannounced, what torcher!

Faster, faster, and faster

my world spins, and it feels as though the world closes in.

I want to scream STOP.

But time goes;

this New Years night, comes to an end.

No turning back;

now is the time to overcome fears and take chances.

Each day will tell it’s own story, as my mind tends to do.

But on my terms,

I will try my best to fulfill each one with greatness.

Working toward my dream;

preparing for my future of learning, and gaining great knowledge that will lead to great success.

Goodbye.

Sincerely,

Lydia Meserve
