Off To College.

I wonder every night if my older brother misses me as much as I miss him,
Hope that he doesn't forget me at college,

Maybe he will remember all the days we would sit on those old swings for hours,

Singing beatles songs in the freezing cold,

Or remember all the little things he taught me that my parents never did cause they weren't around when they should've been.

He was the one who was there, when all the bottles kept piling up as much as my sadness did.

He was the one who cared, when no one else did.

He didn't need to be there but he was.

I never would've thought I would find a father and mother in a big brother.

I ask myself every day if he was scared to leave me.

Watching him walk into that dorm room that day,

Leaving him to grow up,

While I walked the other way to the car.

That was the hardest thing I had to do.

All I wanted was to turn around and run into his arms but,

I knew he had to go.

It felt like just the other day he was at his camp getting his Eagle Scout award and I was sitting there thinking of all the years to come.

Now I just sit in his quiet room,

Waiting for the days to pass,
Until I can see my brother again.

But what happens if he doesn't come home?
