College

It’s not, ‘I don’t want to go to college,’ Because I do. But the pens, the paper, the books, the backpack, Is what I have to put together. New friends, new bills, new rules, a new school… It’s like relearning addition. What if I get lost? My car won’t start? I want to cry? Will there be help at my side? A skirt? A dress? Keep my jeans? I didn’t see a code on what to bring. Where will I eat? What will I eat? Will I even have time to eat? What if I get homesick and lay awake at night In a bed so small, I have to curl up really tight? And when I have nightmares, I have nowhere to go, no one to tell. But others do it, yes they do. We have doctors, teachers, even fire fighters too. But can I do it? Will I survive too? It’s not, ‘I don’t want to go to college,’ Because I do.
