College Boy

Locations

See when I was younger my momma said when you turn 18,

You either go to college or get a job or you won't be staying,

In my house.

So every since the 9th grade I've been grinding,

getting the best grades and educationally climbing,

But now where do I go?

How do I ever learn to be on my own,

When I have to choose between the streets and a G on a loan?

It's Funny how life goes.

In Grade school, the government would refuse us cash,

but complain about those who slang drugs in bags,

what other option do we have?

Teachers go on strike because you refuse to listen,

Kids still going to school even when there's no food in the kitchen,

Tell me what other option do we have?

When colleges refuse students for a C- in math,

A 15 on the ACT but a heart to do better than that,

Tell me what othe option do we have?

And even with the perfect grades,

Kids are refused because of low Financial Aid?

Tell me what other option do we have?

Why should I have to pay cash to make a difference in your future society?

& Why should I have to pay to go to University privately?

What other option do we have?

I'll tell you,

It's either death or prison,

But as a Black man I stand and tell you that I am strong and still living.

Civilized, quiet, but making lots of noise,

Through music and through Jesus & living life as a College Boy.
