College Fears
Checking my accounts,
Checking my sites,
Checking my tuition and fees,
I can’t see it right.
You said you’d help.
You said you’d pay for my college
And see me through the pain.
Where are you now?
Where am I?
How can I go somewhere I can’t pay for?
I told you when you sent me there
That you’d have to pay for it all.
I know you can, but I don’t know where
It’s all going to come from.
Oh God, my God, you are infinitely good.
You are infinitely beautiful and wonderfully faithful.
You have justified my life,
Given me reason and made me right.
I am doing what you told me to do,
And what can I do
But trust you?
What can I do
But give myself over to you?
What can I do
But fall in love with you?
You have brought me into your flock,
Your love has overcome all,
Like my college payments,
or even my writer’s block.
