The Collision

On a misty road stories unforetold unfolding before my very eyes lies in disguise. Blinded by the upcoming headlights crashing into you. Crippled and broken behind the glass and you preparing your lies behind your mask. And so I let you lead me down a path one both ever changing and deceiving. Through smooth sailing and bumps in the road there I sat right by your side. Never leaving, even when the truth was glimmering above me like some sort of holy light. Mind and heart set on you, what was a girl to do? Wit and charm your most dangerous weapons. Left me vulnerable and defenseless. Hand in your hand, heart on my sleeve I took a leap. And when I landed, looked around. Nothing was left the way it was found. Me broken, everything changed. As if my whole life was rearranged. It was then I had to decide. And my choice? To leave you and all this behind. So I said goodbye, watching you fade in my shattered mirror, and halfway down the road, everything seemed a little more clearer. Gaining strength and speed, I learned all about life and this new me. Inner demons scared away, swallowed words I’ll never say. Haunt me to this very day. But the past is where you’ll stay. As long as I’m feeling brave I’ll take the comfort over your games any day.
