Color
I have known the inexorable happiness of the beach,
The sand's hot, the sun's shining and the water's cold,
Therapeutic chatter of the beachgoers and the seagulls,
Happiness in an immaculate public place,
The buzzing ice cream stand, packed, refreshing,
The unalterable pathos of the breaking and crashing of waves,
The melodious bubbling and crackling of the water,
Ritual of tan, surf, swim,
The ending of all problems,
And I have felt sand from the grounds of beaches everywhere,
Finer than diamonds, sharp, hotter than a hot bed of coals,
Waste, almost easily, another afternoon of relaxation,
The sun sets, making the experience all the more worthwhile,
The skin turns tan, The hair turns light, The faces become happy.
