Color

Color

By: Michelle Barrera

Pink,

Blue,

Black,

White.

Colors are colors,

Yet they cut like a damn knife.

They destroy families. Friendships. Marriages.

They wreck havoc in our glass lives.

Cause wars and hate.

Why does pink need to be a girl,

Blue has to be a boy?

Why does white need to be a racist?

Why does black need to be poor?

When will be allowed to mix?

We see the world as so black and white.

See the world as color!

Be aware of color,

Color is an object,

People are not colors.

We are unique, strong, valuable.

We are rainbows.

We are so different.

Not one of us are alike.

Our colors should shine bright.

And only in a rainstorm do our true colors show.
