Colorblind

A river cuts an edge in a ravine

That separates reality and self esteem

While the sky shines with a brilliance

I will never know

Where the confines of beauty and brotherhood are imprisoned by a blink

A reminder of the fate ahead

Where the past fades into obscurity and

Locks itself away

As memories can never be repeated

And I know I needed

a friend at my side

But the winds of difference pushed them to reside in themselves

I find loneliness in company

The film of our childhood escorted by an unneeded monochrome

Even when I knew I couldn't see everything

I thought I could see a friend

But to a select spectrum of hues and you

It turns out I was

Colorblind
