Colored
Skin protects us from germs.
But it does not protect us from people's words.
We can not crawl into our skin and hide.
Our barrier, it's too thin.
We can not always hide our feelings inside.
Many of them helped fight in the Revolutionary war.
Although they helped fight for America's independence
We still discriminated against them.
What makes these people different than us?
Do they not have a brain?
Do they not have hands and arms?
Do they not have feet and legs?
They are part of the human race.
Yet we have enslaved them as if they were animals.
The Checkerboard is our battlefield.
Black against white.
But we are ALL Americans!
We should all be united and fight as one!
"All for one and one for all."
For we are ALL equal.
