Colors
Each sight, sound, taste, touch, each color explosion.
My father laughs in his deep voice about a vulgar joke,
My mother shakes her head in disbelief for how horrible the joke is,
and my sister sits there, thinking about a better joke.
Their figures, their roles in my life, all bring to me the warm
red and orange splashes that lighten up my mood.
Trees laugh with me with their rustling leaves,
Grasses waver in the gentle caresses of the wind,
and the sun softly provides me the heat I need.
Many elements of nature bring to me the bright
green, light blue, and yello that fill up my mind.
A sour candy makes my face contort in surprise,
a bread lets my tongue taste the hidden sweetness,
and a spicy chili sends my nerve to reach its ultimate limit.
All the different experiences all bring to me the strange
shiny pink, light purple, and navy blue.
Gradually, my world is filled up with colors.
Instead of the blackness that overwhelms me for some time,
irregular yet artistic patterns of colors are conquering the last bits of darkness.
Everything is awesome, because I know
through observing what I have seen, heard, eaten, or touched
form the colorful world now I can truly have
I exist in this world.
