The Colors of Advent and Christmas

Purple, candles slowly shrinking,

Three for hope, love, peace are burning.

Rose, another waxen pillar,

Glowing for joy as Christmas nears.

Green, the tree bedecked and bright,

Reminder of the tree of life.

Red, poinsettias bring delight,

Creation shows Christ's love divine.

White, the snow that clothes the ground,

The purity our souls should own.

Silver, moon reflects and shimmers,

As Christ, Blessed Mary mirrors.

Gold, the light of candle and fire,

Jesus' birth for us is brighter.
