The Colors of Depression

Darkness,

It comes in many colors.

Blue,

Is the ocean of tears threatening to drown you.

Tears from regret,

Tears from lost love,

Tears from abuse.

Blue is a state of mind,

Where it feels like the ocean is all there is.

Red,

Is the fire burning inside of you and festering into hatred.

Fire from people who let you down,

Fire from things you've done,

Fire from things they said.

Red is an age of war,

Where you are the only soldier standing on the battlefield.

Green,

Is the envy for the happiness others have.

Envy from their friends,

Envy from their smiles,

Envy from their perfection.

Green is a time of ungratefulness,

Where you're blind when it comes to your own blessings.

The colors of darkness fade with light.

Light,

Is the moment when you move past the depression.

When you feel better,

When you become better,

When you love others and yourself.

Light can break through the darkness,

Even when it feels like the colors of depression are bearing down on you.
