Colors of You

Last night you were upset and down

A man of little words and a big frown

No matter what I said, you were the color blue

So I tried and tried (and tried) to think of what to do

You were so down, so way down low

So I said like the sun, be the color yellow

Hold your head up high and shine bright

But you said, how can you be the sun at night?

I looked out the window, up into the sky

Held my breath, then let out a sigh

Like the stars, you’re pure as white

It’s a shame you don’t share my sight

You’re green with envy and say it’s unfair

Please don’t give up, don’t be in despair

Hold my hand and you will see

Everything will work out eventually

You’re burning red with passion and fire

You’re my one and only true desire

You’re amazing, strong, and so full of life

You’re smart and wise to make me your wife

Still you stayed gloomy as dark gray

Like all your colors got washed away

So I promise to bring out the best in you

And to you, I will always be true

My love, you’re blessed with a heart of gold

You don’t even know all the goodness you hold

I wouldn’t change a single color you’ve made

I love you for all your different shades
