Come With Me

Death knocks upon my door I ask the man to stay A glass of tea, a magazine The simple delight of day Confused and baffled by my question He says, "We have to go." No answers or replies I just shook my head no I answer in reply, "I'm sorry. I must stay." The delight of his presence Slowly begins to fade He packs his things and heads for the door Astonished I would stay He leans down to kiss my head "Remember the decision you just made." I thought about it for a second As my body went into shock Pain exceeding limitations Trauma set off the clock Wounds seeping from my legs A bullet in my heart No feeling in my chest Struck with a poison dart Tears streaming from my eyes Searing pain in my breast My back glued to the ground I am greeted by a guest Again, it is the man The man I first told no Holding a vase of iris and daisies My favorite flowers to grow He leans down to my side "Are you sure you wish to stay?" I look into his eyes, A beautiful greenish gray "Take me as you wish”
