Come on out.

This is me coming out, Of this daunting place where monsters pursue me, Forcing me to be someone else, Someone I am not. There is no room for the real me, Whoever that is, I have vanished somewhere in the dark. Instead of stumbling out like most, I never let anyone notice the opening door. It started with just a crack, I never even noticed the feelings inside of me, Were the "wrong" ones, Until I took in the one slit of light that spilled in. The light of truth. Then everything changed, At first I was terrified, And slammed the door, Pretending to want what I should. But I missed the light, I missed the truth, I missed the one stunning thing I had even seen. I was about to fall out I really was, The something caught my eye. A silhouette, Standing beside me. So I decided to crack the door once more, To see who was suffering with me. And I saw her, Eyes close, mouth shut, Pretending just like I was. I let the sliver of light shine on me, Hoping she would turn her head, Hoping she would crack her door, She did. And we whispered through the cracks, Secrets that no one else could know, Feelings we both shared. Then the crack turned into a foot, No one noticed, But we did. I was halfway out before anyone became aware, By then I did not mind. My hand was out, And it had another one to grasp onto, So together we walked straight into the light, And let everyone stare, As we shined.
