Comfort Zone

When I was little, I was afraid of the dark

But my parents told me I had to sleep by myself

With no light

Not even a little night light

I was terrified

But, that night, I got under the sheets

And I could hardly move

I was so scared, I couldn't close my eyes

Not even for a second, or else

Some hideous monster would come and attack

Or a murderer brandishig a knife

I shook and clung onto my sheets

Until the bright sun finally came up.
