Comfort Zone
Comfort Zone
This is all I have ever known, darkness.
Yet this mind wonders
And creates this beautiful world in perfect wholeness.
Anything is possible everything is as it should be,
And nothing is how it should not.
I have never known
What time was
Nor how long it has been.
But on days when
I feel the power to rise
And explore
I find that this chamber still has four solid barriers
With only my being inside.
Having been aroused from stagnation
By something of which my senses have never seen.
A white illuminating light radiated
From this opening in the side of the chamber.
I cringed from that light
Toward the sheltering shadows,
Away from this door of possibilities.
Of what could be.
This light only brought fear of possibilities, of failure, of chaos, of hate,
Of uncertainty, of anxiety, of suffering,
And of what could be.
Who am I to leave this place
That has been my sanctuary
And sovereignty?
Who am I to choose
A path different then
What has been paved for me?
Who am I?
Or….
Who am I not?
From out of these captive shadows
That ensnare my every delight
And into to the light of paradise.
This haze clears and the mind slowly
Spurts out thoughts that mimic that of the heart.
This providence for which I so dreadfully feared,
Was nothing to be frightened of.
Binding light and bursting colors
Covered the land of which I have never dreamed,
That which touched my feet was reassuring that I belonged.
Yet that lingering thought
Of what could be,
This could all be a ploy.
Just one last glimpse at that consoling blackness that was comfort
That was paradise.
Dashing back into the crisp shades,
Sealing the door of light
Which only fetched fear to my mind.
Turning away from paradise
And the uncomfortable light of day
Seeing that world which was perfect
Was not what I had hoped.
Its flawless design
And its perfect creation were not what I wanted.
What I wanted was the creation
Of my perfect world with in this chamber,
Where everything is as it should be.
And nothing is how it should not.
Here in the shield of this shadowy safe- haven
Is where I was meant to be.
Uncertainty was not a dispute
Because everything is as it should be,
And nothing is how it should not.
Here in ebony dimness
There is no worry
Of what could be.
