Comfortable

I come from a small island

People here get comfortable,

They know their neighbors,

They fish,

They hunt,

They pass down stories for generations,

School isn’t always important.

Where getting by is good enough for most.

I don’t want to be comfortable

I want to spread my wings

Embrace my desire for education

Let myself be known for something more

Change my image

Prove to everybody who doubted me,

I will succeed.

I will concur college.

I will be the master of my own life.

I will not stay comfortable.
