coming closer

I am always coming closer.

like a steady drum beat i step, closer and closer.

you try to slow me down,

with your medicatons and healthy life styles,

but you can't stop me, coming closer.

sometimes you give me a spring board,

with your irresponsible choises, and i use it.

leaping forward as far as i can, closer always closer.

why do you embrace my companion with such joy? yet me with such fear?

do you not see she is just bringing you to me?

offering you things that is just my spring boards in disguise?

after all this time i have arrived,

my black rose in hand,

my gift of eternal rest,

somewhere in the unknown.
