A Common Misunderstanding

I’m not apathetic, I’m simply disinterested.

I’m not lazy, I’m simply bored.

You say I’m upset because life demands too much from me,

But you’ve never really expected more than nothing before.

I’m not tired because life has worn me down,

I’m sick of the same routine.

I’m not hurt because of the constant heartache,

I’m wounded by your lack of faith and trust in me.

I’m not alone because I can’t find my place,

I’m by myself because I’m finally able to see.

I’m not meant to be here.

Life expects so much more from me.
