Compassion

I sit quietly Hiding my face Hideous Deformed Ruffles and rouge Wont cover my faults Perfect couples glide past Beautiful girls Spotless Flawless in the arms of faultless boys I site quietly Hiding my face They avoid my gaze I stay seated I know my place Told time and time again “You’re different” Some look in horror Some in pity But none with compassion I sit quietly Hiding my face Until Deliberately he strides towards me I look down wait for his pity to pass then come the words “Care to dance?” I sit quietly Looking around me Could this be real? Without fear His hand extends Cautiously I accept the gesture His arms fold around me I feel safety And compassion We dance across the room Flying past the perfect couples I am beautiful in his arms I sit quietly But not alone I no longer hide my face I look at him He sits quietly beside me
