Compassion
Compassion, one of the most beloved feelings the world seems to be lacking
Modern times seems to have made this feeling appear “out of fashion”
Modern times seems to have made compassion a rare commodity given out in rations,
Why are feelings of compassion such a rarity?
Why does humanity act as if care and empathy are in a state of scarcity?
Why is it that when I imagine a world of peace and prosperity, my mind reaches stages of complexity?
Let me explain, because this is word doesn’t seem to be to mundane, and that’s been feeding on my brain
Feeding until I lose every cell in my membrane,
The figurative apparel of the good and whole hearted, seems to have been subsided,
It’s much easier today to see hatred, a feeling in which there seems to be no attempts of hiding
Hatred is a feeling that can reside in,
Anybody
There is no escaping from this feeling
The pure ill will and disgust of a person or a thing, nowadays is so appealing
So appealing that the display of hatred is spoon fed to the masses,
On anything, in the papers, on social media, in articles, on television
The worst part of being human seems to be the thing that makes a killing,
A modern day racist, or a killing something that’s always in my vision
The disease of hatred within people doesn’t seem like something we want prevented,
This condition is a pandemic
And it’s spreading through the nations
Hearing these stories brings me such frustration
That these bringers of evil have laid this foundation
Hatred, in all forms like, racism, sexism, supremacism
The list seems ever lasting
Of all the forms of hate we’ve labeled, it’s really flabbergasting
People act on their forms of hatred, because actions speak louder than words
And since actions speak louder than words, these people are leaving others hurt
No more of this pain, and hate, now we start to mitigate
Society begins to mitigate, all its feelings related to hate
After all of this they all start to rejuvenate
Compassion, comes back to fruition
Hate, violence, weapons disappeared,
They realized love was the strongest ammunition
The utopia that was so difficult for me to imagine
It’s really easy to obtain, if people put one thing into action
It’s their ability to feel compassion
The ability to feel
Walking a lifetime in other’s shoes
Everyone agrees this lifestyle would be ideal
But we’ve fallen into disgust, and people turn to others to abuse
All they need is a little empathy
Just a little bit of sympathy
So, the people that hate can see what they have done to me
But, it’s okay
Because nowadays this has become custom
But I still feel for them
And that causes a conundrum
How can you feel for someone that hates, steals, and kills?
Well it’s simple, people just decide to overlook it
Compassion has been the answer, that’s all it is
