Compassion

There I stood, wiping the tears,

Wondering how this could happen.

I tried fighting all his fears,

Yet there was something I was lacking.

Cancer was taking his life,

but he was always brave.

He handled all the strife,

but to me he was a little boy I wanted to save.

I was helpless, I could only be still,

as my little boy slowly faded.

The Doctors fed him pills,

but they only jaded.

I wanted to do more,

I wanted to make him feel better.

Yet there was no score,

Only a ripped up letter.

When I lost him I dediced what to do,

Before he left I said, "This is what I'll do for you."

"I'll be there for other boys and girls,

I'll spread your name all across the world."

His bright blue eys looked up at me,

and I knew my heart he could see.

He said, "How will you do that?"

I smiled and gave his head a pat.

You know the lady that wears the suit with the cartoons?

I'll become one with her little group.

He said,"She's the one who makes me feel cared for."

I'm going to have her job and do more.

I'm going to show compassion to all the boys and girls,

I'm going to spread compassion all over the world.

He smiled, and so did I,

then my boy closed his eyes.

Here I am striving for a job that will change my life,

all for the little boy who fought through strife.
