Competing for a better life

I’ve crossed oceans of desire

for a better life.

I have drowned in the idea of a future

other than the one I’m supposed to have.

I’ve walked mountains made by dreams

and tripped on the roots of the trees.

I’ve spilled blood and sweat for this

future that I’m desperately trying to obtain.

I’ve survived all challenges that

life has thrown my way.

And I’m ready to fight some more

for this prize that I wish to someday

call my own.
