Competing for knowledge

The convention of kids fighting over acceptance

into prestigious colleges

is more or less reckless.

Now, keep in mind I am not saying it isn't fair

to give the kid with better scores

that classroom chair.

This is merely a commentary,

quite scary,

an inside view,

on what college does to me,

and the peers I view.

Stress is the word we have all be

accquainted with,

because a truth we once held dear,

turns into an antiquated myth.

"You can go anywhere you want"

"Be whatever you choose"

too bad, some people

need to pump gas and work the drive thru.

My dearest friends

alternate identities

one day we are buds

and then adversaries

enemies

frenemies

it's thanks to today's rules

I am hating my brother

for fear he gets into better schools.
