The Concert

I know I agreed to this,

And I just need to do it.

My shaking knees just won’t stay still

The rolling beads of sweat skip

Down my head.

I hear the music playing,

But soft and muted, rather

Than the ‘custic sounds that

Usually cruise my

Chaotic  mind.

I know it’s fine but

As I climb the

Stage just chimes with

Cheers, and time just seems to

Stand still.

I pull the chair out

Feel the air surround

My prayers, I sit

And barely find the keys

To start to play.

But as I do it flows

And though I knew that

Everyone was viewing me

Those few were making me

More confident.

So though my fear was

Overwhelming, cheers drown out

The thundering near my heart

That’s finally clear, and all

I’ve done  appears to be fine.
