Concord Not Feathers


I started on the ground With wings and a push, I took a leap of faith Aided by tender, warm breezes, I soared Once I became strong and wise, I looked down on many When wings grew tired, and muscles weak I started a long fall back down. As the youthful passed me on their way up Their shiny feathers gleaming next to my fading plumage I knew they had not felt air that I had, and that they might never My descent continued, the ground growing closer, all life drawn away from me At last. Back on the ground My eyes slowly shut and I rose far above the top
