Proverbs 17:22 New English Translation (NET Bible)

22 A cheerful heart brings good healing,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Here you are dressed in black smiling in the sunshine

Is it not amazing how you attract light?

It seems to be absorbed without any reflection

To be smilingly digested to strengthen you inside

Time heals many things as it grinds away

Yesterday’s successes don’t mean a thing

Maybe all in all, as the past slowly fades

Little of that matters when the final bell rings

How could this happen to me just a spectator?

I thought the infringement of death was for someone else

Who will be remembered in this confused theater?

What we call existing as few admit and tell

Breathing fairly heavy to show I am still around

Hoping to be noticed by the ones, who don’t care

It seems that at this moment I'm destined to run aground

Because of some turbulence coming in from nowhere

Stuck in the sand debating the solid rock

Where I could have been with just obedience

Now I struggle on forever around the clock

Wasting time and effort pleading for some lenience
