The Condition of the Heart

 Perspectives wholly, completely unique

Catacombs filled with memories

Glimpses of pain to harsh to speak

Ancient history for centuries

Emptiness fully, utterly black

Wholeness beyond compare

Stolen dreams never taken back

Gentleness longing to share

Betrayal, love, dreams, kindness

Hope, quiet, depression

Sight, brokenness, chaos, blindness

Hate, strength, obsession

The things that we can never speak

The burdens too painful to share

The loss from when we were too weak

And the dreams of those for whom we care

Jumbled, bumbled, anarchic messes

Full of hopeful despair

Bottled endlessly within the recesses

Of our hearts, yet we stand unaware
