Confessions
Have you ever had those moments?
Where you can't sleep at night,
You hated yourself,
You wanted to end your life.
No one treated you fair,
And that word called you called "nice"
Was non-existent,
Cause all you really knew was strife?
All you felt was pain,
You grew up while abused,
Your path already destined,
You didn't get to chose.
No need for religion,
Cause you didn't believe in God,
Cause if God was real,
Then your life wouldn't be so hard.
You cried on the inside,
Yet you smiled on the out.
No one knew the real you,
You never let it out.
All we saw was a shadow,
Hidden behind a mask,
Never spoke 'bout the present,
Cause you were stuck on the past.
And you would always walk out,
Any time someone asked,
Some sort of question,
You'd end the situation fast.
You'd go in the corner,
And then you'd start to cry,
You had all the answers,
But you were living a lie.
So the truth was left out,
All we saw was a fake,
No one had your trust,
Until your life was at stake,
And they sat down,
They talked with you through it,
Struggling to believe,
Yet in your heart you knew it,
That someone was watching out
Looking from above,
But you thought they were demons,
Instead of the heavenly dove,
So you went back in your corner,
Continued to deny,
You were stuck in your cage,
A bird unwilling to fly.
I look into my life,
Think of the cri-sis I've had,
The times when I was mad,
The times when I doubted,
There were ways to be glad.
And then I think of how I worked it out,
Not knowing what God really was about,
I sat down and opened the book,
I read Genesis,
And then my heart was shook,
I never realized,
That I was caught on the hook,
Being led the wrong path,
Jesus; the time he took.
He cut the line,
When I was being reeled into sin,
So when I thank him,
I do not have a place to being,
But I give him,
Honor, glory and respect,
Because he gave me life,
And he gave me breath,
He relieved me,
Of all my stress,
You don’t know how glad I am to be,
Not lucky but blessed.
And with every word I say,
There’s more to confess,
So let me be that Usher,
And get this off of my chest.
I’m tired of the lies,
And people bringing me down,
Life is full of Karma,
It comes back around.
It’s sad,
Most of you don’t understand,
You’re your own GPS,
You don’t have a plan.
Trying to work it out,
You feel so confused,
Left all alone,
You have to pick or choose.
The battle you were fighting,
Has turned into a war,
And now you have these enemies,
Standing at your door.
With their knives,
And their guns,
And their weapons,
They are waiting.
To end your life,
There’s no more debating.
They want you gone,
Off of the streets,
Satins’ angry,
He wants you to feel defeat.
But God is guiding you,
And he strengthens the meek,
And he helps you,
Climb the highest peaks.
I was thrown into the furnace,
Dying in the heat,
Flowing the wrong way,
Now I no longer leak.
So I seek; forgiveness,
I need; repentance,
You don’t know how good it is,
To be a witness.
Jesus Christ; my fitness,
I have no; more sickness,
God has cleansed my soul,
So I can’t forget this.
So when I rap,
I sound nothing like ya’ll,
I don’t rap about the drugs, money, girls, or the cars.
But if I do,
Know that there are reasons I rhyme,
God has given me this moment,
So I can shine.
I’m running out of time,
There’s little left to say,
You’re lying if this didn’t touch you,
In some sort of way.
You don’t here deep stuff like this,
Every single day,
So I want to make sure,
That your heart is okay.
So I won’t criticize,
My music’s just like ya’lls
But this is this stuff,
That makes you drop your jaws,
And makes you think to yourself,
Just how the heck you’ve been living,
No more Twitter crap,
With that hash-tag winning.
I’m taking off,
I’m lifting off of the ground,
I soar higher than an Eagle,
I’m just flying around,
And when I land,
They will give me the crown,
Cause I’m a prince of God,
And I run this town.
You can try to kill me,
But I won’t die,
How do I know?
Cause Satins already tried,
My eyes; forever stay dry,
You will never see a tear,
That I cry.
