bold beautiful bodacious brown skin

how does it feel to not be let in
with your wide nose and your curly locks
so beautiful you make the world stop

but society doesn't make it seem as such
the white man telling us how much he hates us
Welfare, bad jobs, and public housing
may be the reason all our people are drowning

you see the white man doesn't want to see a young brother or sister succeed
they think because of our skin color we're not fit to lead
it's funny how they say that but they say it in fear
because you know and I know our black people have been running this world for years

it goes all the way back to ancient civilization
with Africa leading the way in science, math, and medication
but society doesn't make it seem that way
according to them we've been slaves since the very first day

so rare, radiant, robust brown skin
the next time that white man doesn't let you in
look him in the face, smile and say
if it weren't for my black roots, none of us would be here today
