Confidence

Living inside most people,

She holds her head up high.

The only thing that can break her,

Are the words passing by.

Confidence is a duality,

Which many do not know.

One of these faces is happy,

The other never glows.

Her happy side is beautiful,

And it’s the side that we see most.

It’s the dressing on your salad,

Or the butter on your toast.

She can change the cant’s into cans,

By making strengths out of your fears.

She’ll always be there to catch you,

And wipe away your tears.

She tells you to never give up,

And never to give in.

She keeps you fighting that fight,

So the devil cannot win.

Through the hurt and the pain

The sorrow and the shame,
She understands your feelings
And reminds you tomorrow’s never the same.

But just like you and me,

Confidence can start to feel low.

First she tries to run away,

And then she loses her glow.

This is the side of Confidence,

Nobody wants to see.

But lying in our beds at night,

We must face reality.

Confidence is very powerful

And when she starts to fall,

She will drag you right down with her

Not even letting you crawl.

After days of feeling down,

She starts to come back to life.

Confidence is trying to rebound,

To tell you it’s alright.

Even with all the darkness,

The times of light still shine through.

And before you know it, she has come,

Confidence to the rescue.

She knows when you need her most,

And you never have to call.

For she is always looking after you,

And would hate to see you fall.

Every time you start to shake,

There’s a reason you make it through.

That voice you hear saying it’ll be okay,

Is confidence guiding you.
