Confidence
In the absence of darkness shines the dull beams of life
Harboring freedom in the wilderness – contrived from the trims
Found on the filthy floors of caves dripping with sedatives
Hope, once a guidance, now lives underground near the rote of red
And yet I find myself high on the drugs in the crevice of my own head:
Behold these eyes that, though glazed, can find the spirit of the dead,
For which lies in the skies is nothing but remnants of God; the holy test.
Unadulterated; hovering just above time, struggling to keep bees at bay
In the hive holding the hearts of millions; the broken, the striped.
I want war to wreak havoc on those who are static
In matters concerning the rest; to hell to those restless soul
Searching; desiring to be diamonds to be nothing more than herrings
The leader of many, known to the few, hugging the lovers of demons
Comprised of trouble and bombs of hate; alas there is no reason.
My only choice is to walk that path that leads me over the hill
And to those like me, here is advice: give up, there was never thrill;
Yet in me that fire cannot be put out in light of the words I shout
Change be in, change be out; change all those around?
But what exactly -- the holes in the hearts that ooze pus or
The decaying teeth spouting layers of distrust – must change?
If it were up to me -- had it been up to me – I would change
What lies in the private, in the minds of others, in their soul that
Seemingly wander; their confidence bound by the message of strength
And belief in one’s existence will remain the key to all problems,
Whether in boroughs under heaven or bouts of possession.
Our love existing first within us can be spread
To the toes and fingers frosted from their cold lungs.
