confined to a sad perspective

as the animals scream in their cages

the pain that plagues them occupies their minds

and they admit it in their lives

simplistic living is their distraction

from a death that never awakens in them

until it has put them to sleep

as the men scream at a game of football

the pain that plagues them is never admitted

and their lives reflect a chosen meaning

complications of the menial details of life are their distraction

from a death that plagues them every night

until it has put them to sleep
