Conform

Sometimes I feel like life is a lie

Keep your mouth shut

Never ask why

Conform

Never be yourself

Life is restless

Just sleep

Conforming

Never be the black sheep

Always tray and be the norm

I don't get it

What is it

Someone please explain

There's this little part I just can't catch in my brain

Conformity

They want everyone the same

Last time I checked

We all had our own ways

Each our own cultures

Each a tradition to display

I know me

I know my story

4th generation of nonconformity

You see

My great great grandfather was a slave

When we said yessir, yes masta

Back in them old days

He was forced to conform

Whipped into shape

Like clay,

He was molded

Each lash a reminder to be their way

But you see people broke free

Which allowed for my life to take shape

I will not be a conformist

I mold my own life today

Within me breath has been given

So conforming is not an option

I live every day to be me, my own way

I will not let my great great grandfather's blood go to waste

Today I take a stand

Today I am a new wo-man

Nobody can give it

Nobody can take it

Conformity is not an option

But a new beginning is

Conformity

BREAK THE CHAINS!
