The Conformist (Cameleon)
Oh Cameleon
you change with the scenery
as do I with people.
I blend with personality
as you do with color.
However as yours is for survival,
mine is only for a false peace of mind.
Oh Contortionist
you bend as though made of rubber
as I bend to meet the standard.
I look and act for an audience
as do you for applause
but you bend and snap right back
and I just get bent out of shape.
Oh Conformist
You have become one of them
and I am now one of you.
We have the same beliefs as those around
and our morals are different than the originals.
We need to return to ourselves.
But by now, who is that?
