Conformity

Funny things are we,
who strive for the norm,
yet emphasize individuality
as long as we conform

One step out of the line,
And we are reprimanded and rebuked
straight back to the spine
Where, according to normality, we are grouped

Only for acceptable achievements applauded
-Cheered for not being different and off-beat
For any others, pushed and prodded
Back to the faceless mass, so neat

But breaking out of the norm is easy
Just don't follow the scheme
