Confused Caged Bird

I don’t understand why the caged bird sings

Being free isn't always fun

Especially in the human world

There’s a problem everywhere you look

The sun might come out and be big bright and beautiful

But that’s only when the sun shines

You forgot about all the cloud that comes

The white blanket that falls when it’s cold

Those foggy nights

Rainstorms that seem as if they could drown you

The bi-polar weather every year

So unexpectedly

Instead that bird could just sit in the cage

Being comforted and fed; no hunting needed

He might not have much room to explore

At least he won’t have to worry

About getting hurt, eaten, or lost in the wild.
