Congratulations
It starts with a talk.
A talk that begins happy, but then quickly changes.
I am happy expecting to be congratulated.
I should have known better.
I am told by every supposedly "supportive" person to
"give up all I live for."
Does she understand what she is saying?
Still we talk for hours.
Every chance she gets...
discouragment.
I have never even gotten one congratulations,
only disaproving glares and
reasons not to do what my heart so desires.
I am ready to live,
I AM READY TO LIVE.
For once my mind screams these things so loud,
my ears begin to ring.
However, people are not ready for me to live.
The people I care about most always say the same thing,
"It didn't work for me" or "It didn't make me happy."
I also get the occasional "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
What's funny about that one is, last time I checked im not you.
I just keep telling myself that,
but honestly im a little worried.
Later, I finally arrive home.
I imediatly make a call.
No answer.
My mind begins to race,
Jumping from one conclusion to another.
Wait...
Don't bother him...
He is just busy...
Don't worry he is alive...
He is dead...
The phone rings!
Suddenly everyones painful words race across my mind
like the low flying planes of Pearl Harbor,
eagerly awaiting my destruction.
I start to say hello,
however all I find myself able to say is...
We need to talk.
I waited for no reply.
I had no choice I couldn't.
Words hurtfull, harsh, terrifying.
More and more words began pouring out.
What was happening?
I couldn't stop.
The words made a waterfall set out to drown us both.
SAVE HIM...
SAVE ME...
SAVE US...
Wait.
Does he care?
He seems calm.
Maybe they were right?
Please, don't let them be right.
